Kaizen is a term based on two separate Japanese words; Kai, meaning ‘change’, and Zen, meaning ‘good’. Combined, they mean ‘good change’, ‘change for the better’, or ‘continuous improvement’. Basically, anything that is done to help make a company better, stronger, and more efficient can be considered kaizen.
The terms ‘kaizen event’ and ‘kaizen blitz’ are processes by which to achieve smaller, more incremental improvements over time. The idea behind the ‘continuous improvement’ theory is to perform numerous, scheduled, and rolling kaizen events to eventually obtain perfection within an organization, effectively transforming a business to ‘lean’. Kaizen… is the power – the engine if you will – behind any lean transformation.

Good infromation. I like your focus on mainly kaizan, especially the templates but you definitely need more. I will keep coming back and hopefully you will have more complete. This is great idea because for me I need someplace to go for quick support.
Thank you, Arnie! I keep adding more information and templates each week. I’m building everything from scratch and trying to get all the “Learn” information updated as well. It takes some time and I’m always looking for suggestions from those in the continuous improvement community. Again – thanks for the input!
I am interested in applying Kaizen to some of our Information Technology Service\Project Delivery. Is there anyone that has done this and can make some recommendations on partners, approach, etc
